The Kenya Kho Kho Federation (KKKF) is the official body governing Kho Kho activities in Kenya, recognized by the Registrar of Sports Kenya. Our primary goal is to promote and develop Kho Kho as a sport across the country, under the guidance of the International Kho Kho Federation (IKKF), with which we are proudly affiliated. KKKF organizes and manages national Kho Kho tournaments, ensuring that the sport is played under IKKF and KKKF rules. We collaborate closely with the Ministry of Sports, Culture, and the Arts, as well as other sporting bodies and partners, to bring Kho Kho to communities and elevate it to a national and international level.
Our vision is to empower youth through Kho Kho by fostering teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness. The federation is committed to improving the livelihood of young Kenyans by promoting Kho Kho as a pathway for personal development. Our mission aligns with our dedication to expanding the sport, encouraging participation from all corners of the country, and positioning Kenya as a significant player in international Kho Kho competitions. Through strategic partnerships and extensive outreach programs, KKKF seeks to make Kho Kho a cornerstone of Kenyan sports culture, offering opportunities for youth to excel both on and off the field.
Since its informal introduction to Kenya in 2016, Kho Kho has grown steadily. The sport, which originated in India, has deep roots in community engagement and requires minimal equipment to play, making it accessible to all. In 2020, four Kenyans were selected for a fully funded coaching program in India, further igniting interest in Kho Kho. Today, the sport thrives in Nairobi, Kajiado, Kisumu, Machakos, and Kiambu counties, with plans to expand to 15 counties by 2024. KKKF continues to organize monthly tournaments, encouraging participation from junior and senior teams, and using Kho Kho as a platform to address pressing social issues such as youth rehabilitation, drug abuse prevention, and offender reintegration.
